Revenue Integrity

Account for the professional revenue your hospitalist program earns.

A Hospitalist Revenue Integrity Assessment examines whether completed encounters are captured, documented, coded, billed, and followed through to appropriate payment. It identifies gaps and estimates their financial significance with the assumptions visible.

Who this is for and when to call

CFOs, revenue-cycle leaders, CEOs, controllers, and hospitalist group leaders who need to explain collection variation, unreconciled encounters, denial patterns, or billing performance that is difficult to verify.

The decision this assessment supports

Which revenue processes need correction, who should own the changes, and what portion of the identified opportunity is realistically recoverable?

What we examine and what you provide

We trace the professional revenue workflow from patient encounter through charge capture, coding, claim submission, denial follow-up, and collections. We review agreed samples and available reports for reconciliation gaps, physician variation, payer issues, aging, and reporting transparency. Your team provides encounter and charge extracts, claims and collection reports, denial and aging reports, payer information, billing agreements, and access to the relevant physician and revenue-cycle personnel. Documentation sampling and specialist coding review require a defined scope and appropriately qualified reviewers.

What you receive

A revenue scorecard; findings tied to specific process gaps; a prioritized corrective-action plan; and a Revenue Opportunity Bridge. The bridge connects identified gaps to potential collections and subtracts implementation and ongoing costs. It separates gross opportunity, realistically recoverable benefit, and uncertainty rather than treating missing charges as collected dollars.

Billing and RCM Evaluation

If the immediate question is billing performance, a focused review examines reporting, reconciliation controls, denial handling, service obligations, and contract economics. The recommendation may be to retain, improve, renegotiate, or replace the current arrangement. Related commercial relationships are disclosed before evaluation begins.

Scope and next step

This work evaluates professional hospitalist revenue. Facility DRG assignment, enterprise hospital revenue-cycle review, ongoing billing services, legal advice, and formal audit assurance are outside the base scope. Improved revenue must rest on accurate documentation, supportable coding, and legitimate payment.
